| Regatta |

The setting up is arranged by the Raiatea Regatta’s association whom president is Mr. Pierre Dinard (association for sailing and nautical industries promotion in French Polynesia).
The races are under the Tahitian yachting federation’s authority in charge of the boats tonnage engaged in the race and under the racing’s committee.
Raiatea’s Yachting Club offers a technical assistance to the federation.
Archipelagoes, a company specialized in consulting, communication and training in nautical domain, has kindly brought her experience for nearly 5 years and help in press and partners relationships.
The Society islands and especially the Leeward islands show an ideal water stretch for an easy
& entertaining sailing.
They present the particularity of not being affected by the tide which facilitates the sailing
practice and are also surrounded by large lagoons protected from swell.
A real pleasure with no seasickness, safety sailing with no danger, no pirates...
With their ports, marinas and nearly all the companies concerned by the nautical and yachting business (charter, shipyard, technicians...), they remain today in the heart of yachting
in French Polynesia.
The relief, light, atmosphere, cultural tradition and history make each archipelago unique : sailing also sticks to these differences.

8 years ago, a group of friends from Raiatea, the polynesian sacred island, created the Raiatea Regatta and organized an annual meeting to sail in one of the most beautiful lagoon in the world.
This is how the Tahiti Pearl Regatta became nowadays the biggest regatta in the polynesian pacific.

In a genuine and friendly atmosphere, the TPR alternates deep-sea navigation stopovers with bewitching colourful lagoons and motu stops (small islets along the coral reef).
A real invitation to share the polynesian way of live and festive mood.
The race is opened to any type of crew (professional or amateur) and sailing ships.
During the 2010 edition from May 12 to 16 the fleet will visit the following islands:
• Raiatea (sacred to each pacific islander),
• Bora Bora (has often been called heaven on Earth and is regarded as the most beautiful and romantic place in the world.),
• Taha’a (known for its vanilla plantations).
The Tahiti Pearl Regatta is open to monohulls & multihulls, from18’.

Because French Polynesia offers the first lands to be seen when departing from the Galapagos or Hawaii islands (Marquesas in the lead and then the rest of the Polynesian territory), it is an ‘obliged route’ for any sailor or crew crossing the pacific ocean.
By offering exceptional sailing conditions with short distance between the islands of a same archipelago (not more than 4 hours or 20 nautical miles in the Leeward islands or the Tuamotu & Marquesas islands...), it is also possible to sail into the pacific ocean and take advantage of nights on board from an archipelago to another on a longer journey.
For those sensitive to the big space notion, French Polynesia is ideally sized for them. The emerged lands of 118 islands as huge as Europe’s surface, represent 0.7% of the total area.

Tahiti and her islands' image was kept alive by a fabulous imaginary combining adventure and lost paradise, wild and sublime nature with warm welcoming.
Coming to Tahiti is still a rare experience.
Besides the landscape that need to be reached by sea to be fully appreciated, it is more an "art de vivre" (art of living) to discover.

Organized in “Leeward Islands” by boat lovers — who joined forces with a common objective in the association Raiatea Regatta —, and by the Tahitian Sailing Official Federation, the Tahiti Pearl Regatta is an important event in Polynesian life.
It combines regattas, sailing and dugout canoe, and not only it helps you to meet others like you but it makes you also discover charming places. This Regatta is a yearly rendez-vous boat, fun and sportive, gathering together Tahiti and its Islands’ lovers as well as the Polynesian Pacific lovers.
